By now, you’re likely familiar with the idea of a skincare fridge. The trend has been floating around the beauty community since earlier this fall, and I knew I had to get my hands on one as soon as I came across it! So, in today’s post, I’m breaking down what the whole thing is all about. What is the point of a skincare fridge, why should you use it and what products even belong in it? Keep reading below to learn more, and see where I got mine!
What is a skincare fridge?
Well, it’s exactly what you’d think it is! It’s simply a mini or desk fridge with the sole purpose of housing and refrigerating your beauty and skincare products. With a skincare fridge, you can forget about putting those eye gels or face masks into your regular refrigerator, and instead have a cold, dedicated home for them. Before I got mine, I know I would ALWAYS forget about the skincare items I even had in our regular fridge!
Since skincare fridges are currently trending, it’s pretty easy to find one, but there’s none I adore more than Macy Beauty’s! With a clear door, removable shelving, stickers and a warm option, it seriously can’t be beat. If you’d like to, you can shop it here! They also have another version here, which comes with the fridge AND a ton of food inspired products. How cute?!
Why should I use or get one?
That’s totally up to you! Some people like to refrigerate their skincare products because of the way cool products feel when applied to the skin while others do so because it keeps the active ingredients of their pricier items more stable. One thing’s for sure, cold moisturizers can be soothing on dry, itchy skin while refrigerated eye creams can actually lessen undereye bags.
Ultimately, a skincare fridge isn’t a must-have item if you can’t afford it (of course), but it is fantastic once you have one and may make a good gift ask for the holiday season. Plus, at the end of the day, it’s a gorgeous way to show off your products and curate a top shelf! It’s like the cherry on top of a self-care cake 🙂
What do I put inside of it?
There are SO many options here! At first, I couldn’t think of ANYTHING to put inside of mine besides sheet masks and eye gels, then I realized there are plenty of other products that belong in my skincare fridge. Take the list below for example. The most important of these, however? I’d argue Vitamin C products. It’s such a tricky ingredient that’s especially temperature sensitive.
- Vitamin C products
- Acne topicals
- Face mists
- Sheet masks
- Eye/lip gels
- Jade roller
- Eye cream
To provoke some new inclusions and thinking, just ponder which products would feel even better if they were cold. That’s where I got the inspiration to put in my gel-based moisturizers and eye creams. Mists are also a given! But, those would probably feel best in the summer and not during Chicago’s freezing winters!
What do you think of skincare fridges? Would you ever get one, and if so, what would be the first product you store in it? Let me know in the comments below, and have a great week!
