I know it’s Labor Day weekend, but I am SO incredibly excited for an entirely different reason. New York Fashion Week SS19 is FINALLY here! I’m going for a second year with my friend Lexi of Lex and the City and I’m so looking forward to all the shows, events, meetings and more we have planned this week and weekend.
Ahead of one of the industry’s biggest weeks in fashion and beauty, I’m sharing a few trends I’m expecting to see, thanks to insight from my friends at Nordstrom who get a backstage look at the shows each and every year. Take a look below and note which ones you want to recreate next spring and summer!
Kissed Lips // Though it’s predicted as a spring and summer trend, kissed lips are something you can even start wearing into fall and winter. Wear bold, rich berry shades or matte pinks. Whether it’s a balm or a velvet lipstick, play around to find what look you like best! I mention it ALL the time, but one of my favorite formulas is Charlotte Tilbury’s Matte Revolution, but I’m also a big lover of Dior’s Addict Lip Glow for its subtlety. For those liquid lipstick lovers, I’ve heard great things about NARS Powermatte Lip Pigment.
Future Beauty // Now this is a trend I can really get behind. That post-facial feeling doesn’t have to limit itself to right after you step out of your facialist’s office. Address skin concerns from the inside out with high-tech tools and supplements! A great first step is consistently washing your face morning and night. Great motivation to do is buying a Foreo Luna facial cleansing device! Jade-rolling your face is another way to feel amazing with minimal effort. Lastly, you can attack breakouts with facial strength with Patchology’s new breakout box! I LOVE these pimple patches.
80’s Haze // Punch up your look with some electrifying colors reminiscent of the 80’s. Not into color? That’s okay. Apply it in sheer washes and blend it out for a look that’s more subtle. Think thin electric blue eyeliner or a blotted hot pink lip. If you’re more of a glitter gal, MAC has new liquid eyeshadows called Dazzleshadows you may want to give a go. For something more subdued, use Laura Mercier’s Caviar Eyeshadow Stick in a fun color all over your lids and a bright blush from NARS Wanted Cheek Palette.
