Growing up, many of my first experiences I ever had with makeup, skincare and beauty overall were at the counters of various department stores, including the beloved Macy’s. I vividly remember buying my first ever moisturizer, Clinique’s Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel, as a high-schooler. I swear I’ll never forget that memory!
Though traditional beauty counters are still around these days, subscription boxes are much more relevant and up-to-speed when it comes to curating the latest trends. They’re also SUCH a great way to try out a handful of new products without the commitment! That’s why I was so excited to find out Macy’s actually has their own. It’s like the best of both worlds! In today’s post, I’m reviewing it and sharing a few more perks of being a part of the subscription, just in case you’re curious and want to get your own! Keep reading below to see more.
So, let’s first talk logistics. Each month, subscribers pay $15 for Macy’s Beauty Box, which includes a little pouch, five deluxe samples and one bonus sample, as well as $5 off your next purchase at Macy’s. That last addition basically makes the box $10, which is a great deal in my opinion! Check out what I received and thought of each sample below.
IT Cosmetics Confidence in an Eye Cream // To be honest, IT Cosmetics is one brand that I haven’t experimented with too much! I love the product conception and branding, but I’ve never gotten around to it, which made this inclusion an exciting one. Compared to my Kiehl’s Creamy Avocado Undereye Treatment, it’s just as brightening and hydrating for nighttime, which is always a plus.
Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray // A cult favorite for a very, very good reason. Unlike Tatcha’s Luminous Dewy Skin Mist, I find Urban Decay’s All Night Makeup Setting Spray makes me a bit more matte and genuinely makes my makeup last longer, particularly my foundation and any powder products like bronzer or blush. This cute little travel size is handy, too!
Origins Clear Improvement Charcoal Honey Mask // This item is quite a recent launch for Origins, one of my favorite skincare brands, so I was SUPER excited to see this included in the box! I love the idea of pairing charcoal to detoxify and honey to nourish. I’ve never been disappointed with any Origins mask ever and I’ve tried almost all of them!
Lancôme L’Absolu Lip Lacquer // Though I’m not a big lip gloss gal, this was an addition that put me a bit out of my comfort zone. Hot pink and shiny? It’s a lot at once, but the formula is surprisingly nice. It’s certainly something I wouldn’t have tried otherwise, which is another reason why the Macy’s Beauty Box is fantastic.
TONYMOLY Master Lab Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Sheet Mask // Yay! Sheet masks are so, so fun and particularly effective considering this one is from K-Beauty brand, TONYMOLY. I saved this one to use post-travel because Hyaluronic Acid can hold up to 1000 times its weight in water meaning it entirely rehydrates skin. I’m not too picky about face masks, but liked trying one from a new brand as I usually use Patchology’s!
Juicy Couture Oui Eau de Parfum Spray // Last but not least, I believe this was my bonus sample! Fragrance is such a lovely area to play around in and I’m a fan of Juicy Couture’s earlier scents, so it was no surprise that this one didn’t disappoint either. I only wish there was more of it because it was so fresh on my skin! Citrusy and sweet, but not at all overpowering.
Overall, I think the Macy’s Beauty Box is great for beauty lovers and those simply looking to discover new items. It’s ALWAYS fun to use a new face mask or sample a unique perfume, and just for some extra change a month? I think it’s a form of self-care! Treat yourself, right?
