My Favorite SPF Products For Every Occassion

With summer fully underway, I think everyone has SPF on the mind and while we should be wearing it every single day, the warmer temperatures are a great reminder to slather up. Because let’s be honest, SPF isn’t the sexiest thing in the world, but neither are wrinkles.

So, I’m rounding up my favorite sunscreen products. From my go-to body sunscreen to a great SPF for your scalp (you read that right), take a look below!

Let me preface this blog post by saying two things. First, the dermatologist recommended minimum is SPF 30. You always should be reapplying every two hours and always after sweating excessively or getting into the water. Second, if you’re wearing foundation with SPF, that’s incredible in itself but remember to use something else underneath since you use less makeup than you think. A nickel size of normal sunscreen underneath will do the trick.

For Body: Neutrogena Hydro Boost or Neutrogena Beach Defense

I really do love both of these, so it’s a tie for me. Beach Defense has been my go-to for a few years now, particularly when I need a spray bottle of sunscreen, but I recently tried Hydro Boost and it may be the best I’ve ever used. It’s marketed as hydrating, which I completely agree with. It also doesn’t feel anything like normal sunscreen, so it goes on quite easily. It’s hard to describe, but I highly recommend buying it!

For Face: Glossier Invisible Shield

A year later and Invisible Shield is still my favorite. I do need to try Supergoop’s Unseen sunscreen, but this one is a good one nonetheless. I surprisingly like its smell, sunscreen-y (but not overpowering whatsoever) and beachy.  It doesn’t break me out or make me feel particularly greasy. Perfect alone or under makeup. Even my boyfriend Austin enjoys using it!

For Makeup: First Aid Beauty Triple Protection Skin Tint, First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Tinted Moisturizer and Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Perfecting Skin Tint

Ever buy a foundation with SPF and become immediately disappointed? I certainly have, yet these three have SPF and I cannot even tell. From the smell to the way they wear, you’d have no idea if it wasn’t on the packaging and I LOVE that. I use the First Aid Beauty Skin Tint when I want coverage, but nothing too heavy while I use the Ultra Repair Tinted Moisturizer when I’m on the beach or running arounds. I reserve Make Up For Ever’s for events, photos, etc.

For No Makeup Days: Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream SPF 30

Skip the makeup and just go with a moisturizer with SPF. Kiehl’s classic Ultra Facial Cream with SPF is a winner in my book. I’d never wear it under makeup as it is quite heavy, but it’s good if you’re working out outdoors or simply skipping on foundation for the day.

For Scalp: COOLA Scalp & Hair Mist

Bet you didn’t know a sunscreen for your hair and scalp existed! I actually had my first scalp sunburn a few weeks ago, and this would’ve come in handy to prevent that. I appreciate COOLA’s successful effort to make SPF cool again with adorable branding and products you never knew you needed!

For On-The-Go: Supergoop Translucent Setting Powder

I mentioned this on my Instagram Stories earlier last week, but this stuff has been a lifesaver already this summer among concerts, festivals and hands-down just being outdoors sweating! It’s a non-drying, sweat-resistant formula and has SPF 45, perfect for touch-ups throughout the day (all without ruining your makeup).

What are your favorite sunscreens? I loved to know in the comments below! Hope you all have an incredible weekend.
