The 3 Chicago Events on My Summer Bucket List

There’s nothing quite like summertime Chicago. Truly, the city comes alive! After months of snow and cold temperatures, those seeking the heat come out of the woodwork to run along Lake Michigan, dine al fresco and of course, attend some of the city’s best festival and events. I’m no exception to this sort of “stereotype!” Thinking about the warm days ahead gets me more excited than it should.

So, today’s post rounds up the festivals and events I can’t wait to attend! If you live in Chicago or are visiting this summer, I hope some of these may inspire you to go to one you’ve never been to before. Keep reading below!

Windy City Smokeout // July 13-15, 2018

Windy City Smokeout is hands-down my favorite of these! Sorry, but I’m a bit biased because I’m not sure there’s anything better than country music and BBQ in the summertime. Last year, Austin and I attended a day of the fest as some of our favorite artists were playing. This time around, we’re going for three days and will enjoy even more of the BBQ! Put on by Lettuce Entertain You’s Bub City (one of our favorite restaurants), this is an event you don’t want to miss, especially as tickets are quite affordable!

Millennium Park Summer Film Series // June 5-August 21, 2018

Austin and I both love movies and I particularly adore picnics, so Millennium Park’s Summer Film Series has always intrigued me, but I’m hoping to actually make it once this year. People bring lawn chairs, blankets, food and drinks and enjoy a movie for a free set against the city’s skyline. I particulary want to catch Get Out on Tuesday, July 24th. Such a great movie! You can check out the full lineup on TimeOut Chicago here.

Taste of Chicago // July 11-15, 2018

Believe it or not, I’ve lived in Chicago for five years and have yet to attend Taste of Chicago in Grant Park, the city’s premier food festival (and the world’s largest) showcasing the diversity of Chicago’s dining community. We are known to be a culinary capital, after all! This one falls on the same weekend as Windy City Smokeout, but I’m planning on making both. How could you ever resist the delicious array of bites?! Plus, admission is FREE.
