Ever since about a month ago, I’ve been hooked on listening to podcasts! I seemingly can’t get enough of them and for good reason, they’re entertaining and often informative. They’re also a great way to pass time to and from work or during other everyday routines like taking off your makeup or doing the dishes. I’ve always liked the idea of them but never really found very many that were interesting to me personally, until now.
Over the past few weeks, I’ve asked for your recommendations on Instagram stories and many of you wanted to see a post sharing both my favorites and the recs I got. So, I’m excited to share it all here today. Keep reading below!
This is my go-to podcast for quick tidbits of information and inspiration. Some are political so if you’re not into that, you’ve been warned, but many of them are quite moving. I’ve gotten pretty emotional over some and so motivated by others! Most episodes are anywhere from 10 to 25 minutes, which makes them great for when you don’t have a lot of time. Some of my favorite TED Talk episodes are the ones that entirely shift your perspective on something.
I have to say this first, but I’m not a huge fan of Sophia Amoruso or her book Girlboss. For some reason, I was kind of turned off by the way it was written. I like the idea, but all of this is another story for another day. However, her podcast is pretty decent due to the variety of high-profile guests she has on. Many of them are related to fashion, lifestyle, media, and some are flat-out celebrities like Gwenyth Paltrow. It’s inspiring to hear their stories and take on their careers in this podcast.
This one is for all of my beauty lovers out there! Two beauty editors (and friends) of Teen Vogue and Marie Claire team up for this beauty podcast that features beauty news, guests like Jen Atkin and Miranda Kerr, and more. I love that they talk about new and favorite products in-depth on this podcast and they’re absolutely hilarious so that helps too. If you have even a slight interest in beauty, you’ll love this one! I promise the hour-long episodes are worth it though I was skeptical at first too.
I like to think I’m a very curious person and this podcast definitely feeds my curiosity. The episodes are also a bit longer because they really delve into whatever topic they’re covering. Basically, they cover a new topic in each episode. Some are really random like did a cow really start The Great Chicago Fire and some are more relevant like the history of coffee. They recently hit 1,000 episodes so there’s certainly something for everyone here. The hosts, Chuck and Josh, keep me laughing while I’m learning new things!
Lastly, this one is about business owners and entrepreneurs of big brands that we know and love today and how they got there (think Dry Bar, Patagonia, BuzzFeed, and more). The episodes cover their ups and downs, successes and failures, and truly everything in between. I’m not super business-minded so this podcast has especially taught me a lot about entrepreneurship and how to turn a brilliant idea into something tangible and helpful to the masses.
Other podcasts I recommend are Casefile True Crime, Serial, and CollegeFashionista Office Hours. Some of the recommendations I received from you guys but still need to check out include Awesome with Alison, Elise Gets Crafty, Not Another Anxiety Show, Earn Your Happy, and Goal Digger.
I hope this roundup was helpful for you! If you end up checking any of these out or enjoy them, definitely let me know in the comments below. Happy Sunday and have a great week, everyone!
