The 4 Serums Your Beauty Routine Needs

In this installment of fueling my skincare obsession, I want to talk all about serums. In recent months, everyone has obsessed over things like ice-rolling and masking, but serums are the unsung heroes that are trending too. Truly, if one serum isn’t already part of your beauty routine, it needs to be! Today, I want to share a few of my favorites that target various skincare concerns so everyone can find something that works for them. Continue reading to learn more and shop them below!

To get moisturized, bouncy skin

I’ve been using Peter Thomas Roth’s Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Serum for the past two months and I can honestly say it’s changed my skin. I didn’t know I wanted bouncy skin until I tried it. The super ingredient, hyaluronic acid, attracts and retains up to 1,000 times its weight in water from the atmosphere,. AKA your skin is intensely hydrated. I love to use it in the morning or at night under a moisturizer (Peter Thomas Roth’s Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Cream) for even more moisture. The two together are incredible!

To finally achieve a healthy and dewy look

Vitamin C serums have been huge lately and they’re also a great starting point for anyone looking to establish a more than basic beauty regime. Glossier’s Super Glow serum is ideal for those who want to achieve a dewy look. Lately, I’ve been using this one in the morning before my moisturizer and it helps my makeup look fresh and natural and less cake-like. Like the next serum I mention, this one also helps to brighten skin and reduce dark spots. I will say Glossier’s is very runny and water-like but this also keeps it super lightweight.

To fade dark spots, sun spots, and acne scars

Before I started taking spironolactone, which I talk all about here, I had really hormonal acne that scarred terribly. So, I’ve sworn by the Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution since I started my blog. It’s been in several posts and I still recommend it today. Not only is it extremely effective at fading scars and spots, particularly newer ones, but it smells amazing. I love that it has peony extract. Hello, fave flower! This one is a vitamin C based serum too so be sure you’re not using this with another vitamin C serum or you’ll give your skin more than it knows what to do with.

To clear acne or reduce redness

Glossier’s Super Pure is the first thing I reach for in my medicine cabinet after a regretful night of binge drinking or some poor eating. The super ingredients in this one are niacinamide and zinc, both of which help to counteract triggers that make your skin freak out, just like the ones I mentioned. If you don’t want to spend too much, try The Ordinary’s version since it has the same ingredients. My boyfriend has been using it and finds it reduces redness, acne, and irritation from shaving. You can’t beat the $5.90 price tag, c’mon!

If you’re using serums, what are your favorites? If you’re not, what ones are you dying to try? Please let me know in the comments below. I’m seriously always looking for more!

I am a huge fan of Hyaluronic acid! I see it also has Sodium PCA in which is great! Our regimen is very similar. How great you are already taking steps with your skin now vs waiting until later in life. I hope to see more ladies join us in taking care of our body’s largest organ!
